PEELIO VS DR. MOULD is the story of two unlikely friends - Peelio the athletic banana and Nancy the nerdy nectarine.
This movie is the product of a week-long AI filmmaking school holiday workshop program held in July 2026, at The Precinct in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.
The school holiday program was attended by 20 students aged between 7 and 15 years old, where they learned:
*Character creation, story structure and script writing
*Generating still images with different camera angles and shot sizes *Generating video clips with different camera movements
*Basic video editing and movie soundtrack production
METHOD
This short film was written collaboratively by the students, after they conceived and illustrated their characters
with felt tip pens and coloured pencils.
The story creation was guided by Make AI Movies Founder, Director and Program Manager Matthew Donaldson, using the Matthew Donaldson Workshops storytelling method.
The students collaboratively produced the first scene together, then Matthew Donaldson edited, directed and produced the rest of the movie over the following weeks.
Make AI Movies offers OSHC production workshops during term time for students who wish to learn advanced filmmaking skills to complete the projects that they start.
This project has also been translated into Spanish and Chinese using AI.
In September 2026, Make AI Movies ran its second, week-long AI filmmaking school holiday program at The Precinct in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.
The students were aged between 7 and 15 years old, where they learned:

METHOD
After the students brainstormed character and story ideas
using pens, paper and coloured pencils, they then transformed their artworks and writing into AI images, AI movie clips and learned the basics of editing the clips together to create a movie trailer,
before enhancing it with an AI soundtrack.

In June 2026, Make AI Movies worked with the Art Teachers and Principal of St Brigid's Primary School in Nerang, Gold Coast Australia, to try out an idea to bring student art works to life.
In July, Make AI Movies had transformed 50 hand drawn artworks with the theme of what jobs students wanted to try after they left school, into life like videos, providing a strong connection between what they imagined themselves doing, and being able to visualise it as reality, creating a strong powerful connection to what is possible and achievable in their lives.

We took worked with students to create movie characters from their imaginations, using their hand -drawn illustration.
We've already started building the worlds they inhabit, and in future workshops we will start building stories around these characters.
We worked with the artist and author Maria Dounaeva who had written and illustrated a children's storybook, to turn it into an animated short film. This is the result.
It was a fun exercise bringing the hand drawn illustrations of students to life, in a variety of styles and combinations.
